Steering Play

W124, won't say which one

I have noticed a little steering play while sitting at stops lights and such, about a 1/4 inch at most. I don't really notice/detect the play while driving. Today I was being very bad and took a trip to the drive-thru... while sitting there with my wheels turned to the left(about 1.5 turns of the steering wheel) I felt a big ole dead spot in the steering. It was at least an inch but less than two. The front ends of both my W124's are pretty darn tight, they drive great. I have never tweaked either steering box's.

Any ideas?
