Injector crush washers... where to find them

I've been trying to find these on Pelican for my 1982 300SD but can't. Where are they?

Crush washers?
Do you mean the heat shields?

The problem with ordering Injector Heat Shields is that it may not be cost effective to order only the Heat Shields by themselves due to shipping and handling costs.

Better to include some Heat Shields when you order Filters, Valve Cover Gaskets and so on.

If you get them from a local Auto Part store they are $2.50-$4 something each.

In a pinch, I have uncrushed them with a ball bearing, a socket and a vice grip and reused them. I inspect them with a magnifier afterwards to make sure there are no cracks before reusing them.

Locally I bought some for a VW performance shop. the Diesel rabbits use the same shields, and were $1.50 ea.

If you are going to order them the OM616 & OM617 are part# 617 017 03 60 and are $2.00 ea.

The 87 300D/TD part# is 601 017 00 60 & are $1.25 ea.

The difference is the 617 # are a 10mm hole and the 601 # are a 7.5mm hole, either one will work.

You need to look under "Fuel & Intake".

I bought them at Car Quest --- they had to order them from the regional distribution warehouse; took 3 days and was a total of $8.XX for 5 of them.

I may try that -- I've been looking for an excuse to check out the local CarQuest.

I usually order them with a larger order. I keep about 10 on hand at any given time. We are lucky these are easy to find. Try buying just the copper crush washers for a 6.9/7.3 International Diesel engine and I will wish you good luck.

NAPA also has them or can get them; likely cost more then other places.

I go with adding them to a large Order. Over 4 Years ago I bought over 25 of them. This was when the Price was closer to .50 Cents. Since that time the Price has gone up and Mercedes Part Sellers appear to have gone over to the Heat Shields with a 10mm Hole in them.
In any event I figured since the Price has gone up I could sell off the extras if I wanted to.

My Volvo Diesel (made by VW) and Mercedes both use the same Heat Shields and I also wanted the ones with the Small Holes in them (5mm). So I ordered the VW Rabbit Heat Shields.

When I first got My Volvo Diesel I rebuilt the Injectors. However, I did not realize there where Heat Shields under the Injectors.

So I just stuck the Injectors back in till sometime after about 1.5 Years I managed to drop a Screwdriver into the Timing Belt; damaging My Vales.

When I got the new Head Gasket it came with new Injector Heat Shields and I had to look up in the Manual and found out what they were for.

Oops, I wrote to much and missed My point. I drove 1.5 years on the old Injector Heat shields which apparently did not leak with no ill effects to anything. Apparently no exceptionally critical on that non-turbo Engine.

Of course when the Injectors were rebuilt I used new Nozzles and that meant there was a nice flat surface for the Old Heat Shields to butt against.

On the Mercedes when I removed what must have been the original Injectors it had the small Hole (5mm) Injector Heat Shields; some of which were burned due to dribbling Injector Nozzles.
