After much drama

As stated a long time mechanic.............mostly FORD driveability guy until 1987, my first foray into my 96 E300D was a disaster, because of my limited MB diesel experience, a 84 turbo wagon which I totaled after shearing a teley pole in half, yes I mistook the thick black line out the back of the IFI as a vacuum line.................... Fortunately I was not successful in ripping it out.....anywho I got the all new plastic lines replaced along with a new rack and pinion (rebuilt) hears my reason for this long winded *****fest, THEY assured this not under the car mechanic the rack was in fact "centered"guess what, it was not, but because I believed, them you can only imagine the fun I had "timing" all the components along w/2 new tie rod ends whilst maintaing a properly centered wheel.Again to all you under the car techs, simple stuff but not while your trying to put the wife's car back in service, with my buddies telling me to just "land the flat's" not knowing about MB's little plastic centering device on the original rack. After all this I DID clean the intake and intake runners on the head and now my wife thinks she got a turbo! I also think those "runner" switches on the intake where stuck, as I lubed them w/mouse milk after exercising them several times. Will attempt to attach pics of intake before/after. EGR was fine she just turned 106K, running like a watch......
