(Semi) urgent monovalve rebuild question

Hey guys, I have my monovalve apart in the driveway right now, for a rebuild kit. When I removed the old one, it has a second 'small' washer installed on the other side of the crush washer. This isn't what's shown in the pictorial I am using for reference.

Was this a late-production modification or did someone mistakenly install an extra washer on my car? I have done some searching here and none of the thread pics clearly shows the washers (mostly focus on the screen and diaphragm/seal).

According to the pictorial, the order should be:

small washer - crush washer - large washer

I have:

small washer - crush washer - small washer - crush washer

Thanks

The order is "upper is Large flat washer - crush washer - flat washer".

Thanks. I don't think there was anything wrong with the diaphragm at all, I think it wasn't working correctly due to the extra washer in there.
