Ready for this??? In a couple of weeks, no more Mercedes.........

It is truly hard for me to fathom, but within the next couple of weeks I will be diesel-less and Mercedes-less.
Several reasons, but to be honest, I'm ready to drive a nicer car for awhile. {I can't afford newer Mercedes}
I'm also sick and tired of having "the fleet" thrown up in my face by an un-named cocubinal apparatus.
And I don't want my 13 year old daughter to be so embarrassed for me to pick her up at school and church. These are still special times, and formative years.
So, no real earth shaking deal, but it is a big change for now. I've had my F-150 for going on 14 years now, and at 215K it hasn't had 1/50th the issues these cars have. Of course, it doesn't emit that cool klackin' noise either.
I am trading all 3 of my diesels: the white wagon, the '95 E300, and my beloved China to a forum member in exchange for something in an Acura flavor. He will chime in in a bit I believe.
I got excellent advice on other makes of cars from several forum members. I did not go into this wanting anything in particular, just newer, safe and hopefully reliable.
I'll still be on the forum. Things that go on here will still matter to me. Folks on here will still matter to me. Terminology Correctness, well, heck, that's a way of life!!!!!

Hard to see you go

I can understand where you are coming from. I'm 22 and love my car. It may not be the status symbol, but it gets me from A to B and does it well. I wish you luck. But someone will have to pry my Mercedes out of my dead lifeless fingers. btw a newer 2001 can be had for 7k

The fans must have been blowing the wrong way today.

When I was reading the response Tyler posted about the Acura I knew it was a TL. There had to be a "T" (never liked the TSX, the TL is more "mature" to me which I thought you'd go for).

Good luck with that, don't be a stranger around here.

He will get another one. I give him until after the holidays before he starts cruising CL for another fixer upper to "Jimmify", 6 months at the most.

The "T" in TL is proper. Good thing is isn't turbocharged! {TLT?}
"Mature": Code word for "old".........

I really meant mature, not old.

If you decide to drop in a snail in the Hon -- I mean Acura -- then it'd be a TLT indeed

Tyler, I'm going to have to borrow the word "Jimmified"

Its gunna be OK. There's a perfectly logical explanation for all this....

Just take a day or so and sleep on it.... you'll come around.

See, we are entering an era of high solar activity. There are these massive explosions on the sun battering the earth with electromagnetic rays and god knows what else the large hadron collider has not found yet. They're screwing everything up here on our perfectly balanced little Earth.

I think you may be the latest victim. No offense, it could happen to anyone.

Now, if you don't feel yourself returning to your normal state of configuration, please, see a doctor.

He will probably suggest some lead pills... maybe lithium, and you'll be back on track within a month or so.

Print this out, and hand it to your concubine.

The Man (or boy wonder) Behind the Curtain

The first pre-requisite for me doing this deal was for Jimmy to take himself to the nearest clinic for an immediate physical and psychological evaluation. I wanted to make sure the condubinal apparatus hadn't wasn't replaced him with a "Stepford Wife" like android or snipped his manhood. After talking to him I realized this wasn't any more the case than usual. Jimmy's wife liked me before, but I'm sure she's going to love me now.

I've wanted a '95 E300 ever since I drove Jimmy's for the first time about 2 years ago. When I got my dealer's license in August, I've been casually searching for one, and found nothing worth buying despite alot of search resources available to me. I've settled on the W124 as my favorite platform after owning a 20 or so MBs. This silver arrow is nice, but will eventually be sold. Of course Zippy is the untouchable, and Jimmy's E300 may get to an Ol' Turbo like possessiveness to me, but only time will tell.

What I can find very easily and cheaply is Acuras; you can imagine there is hundreds to choose from available dealer wholesale. After we ruled out BMWs because of their Bavarian Befuddlements I rapid fired a bunch of other options, and we zeroed in on Acura TLs of the 2004+ variety. When I sent one in particular with a beautiful color combo and 6 speed manual, the caped crusader reacted with the glee of a 16 year old getting his first car. Things went downhill from there.

Its a win on both sides. I get a car I've always loved, and 2 other cars I can sell for a decent amount to pay for the majority of the Acura I got "wholesale". Jimmy gets a very nice car that retails for a whole lot of money. We also get to hang out over a weekend making a run from Dallas to Wichita.

It looks like I'll be having a fleet again...

Which is the one you've always loved, and which two are the ones that you're selling?

He loves the '95 just as I do/did/do/does/will oh whatever..... I really believe it is almost the perfect Mercedes. Runs ridiculously smooth, rides great, handles great, good size, good looks, you can try your best and still can't make it get less than 30mpg. And I must now admit, the black on black definitely makes a difference. That is the one that hurts to see go! He is doing well with that one.
The wagon is completely squared away and has been my daily driver on and off for 5 years.
The lovable little 240D, China, was my daily driver for about 18,000 miles over a year and a half. Great little mutt and returns 28-31mpg. She does prefer to be lubricated often. Recovered from a case of Dalmatian spots...... {Dan!}
All have working AC and cruise if you can believe that. Rear wiper, washer and defroster all work on the wagon. It will decapitate you in cold weather though. Never did install hatch struts. No reason.....
