Relating to the other key thread, how much do a new set of keys cost for a Sprinter?

I would ask this on the Sprinter section but there is very little traffic through there and figured since the Sprinter is a diesel, I'd ask it here.
So as many of you may know you cannot duplicate a Sprinter key and start the engine with it (places that will make keys with the circuitry in them do not make Mercedes keys). So we have 2 keys for our Sprinter and both of them are starting to get pretty worn out (partially because the locks on the Sprinter are not that great and sometimes you have to use a good amount of force for the thing to turn). So how much does it cost to buy a new key from the dealership?

Dealers quote a wide range for auto MB's. Nashville quoted me $16 and Ive heard as high as $30. You need title in your name and photo id for them to make a set for your MB.

Assuming its a smart key like most cars from '00 and beyond have, I would guess x10 the above costs. Its a small marketplace.

It does pay to shop tho. You'll need your VIN and usually proof of ownership and ought to have to present both in person if they follow the rules.

Anyone who offers you a key without the above is probably selling you a key fob "shell" which your wife will use as paperweight to remind you of your folly for years to come when it doesnt work.......

The new key also needs to be taught in to the WSP immobilizer control unit using VDOK and the SDS both of which are only available to the dealer. We charge 0.5 hours per key to do this.
