Another '98 E300 rough idle

I replaced fuel lines, pre filter, main filter and shut off valve o ring recently. Now the engine run rough when hot.
I can see air bubbles in the line from the lift pump to the SOV. When shifted from park to drive the bubbles stop and the engine runs smooth.
I am scratching my head why tranny position is affecting this.
