1985 300CD
Folks:
I just recently acquired one. 175K. Beautiful shape. While happy, I have an issue. First, the tubro sometimes seems to be there, and sometimes not. I undertand that the lack of power may or may not be due to the turbo. When the power is there, it is there. However, sometimes the engine pulses while above 2300rpm - like the turbo goes in and out - again, I know that it may not be the turbo. I cleaned the Banjo Bolt, which was dirty and clogged, but the problem persists. Filters are new and fuel lines clear. Any ideas? |

Temporarily bypass the switchover valve between the now cleaned banjo bolt and the ALDA.
How's the air cleaner? Fuel lines too.

X2 on the fuel filters. also could be a plugged fuel strainer in the fuel tank.
If changing the filters does not help, try swapping the supply and return hoses. then you will be using the return line to supply the engine with fuel. You can put some fuel in a seperate container under the hood, (Qt/Gallon) and use it temporarly to see if it smooth out. secure it well. X2 also with bypassing the switch Over valve next to the Brake Booster, and running the line straight to the ALDA. Charlie
