engine bolt torque specs 300d
I have a 1983 300d and need the torque spec to the back plate that bolts to the engine behind the flywheel. I have done several searches on this forum and google and cannot find (maybe I am typing in the wrong words?). Any help will be appreciated.

It is often called an adapter plate. I've posted some pictures of the thing in this thread
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/287756-om617-trans-adapter-plate-2.html I can't find the information you want in the FSM - it is hidden in there some where... ...however Haynes says => "Engine mount bearer-to-engine block" 10mm --- 40 Nm --- 30 Ft-lbs 12mm --- 70 Nm --- 52 Ft-lbs WARNING! Haynes is not always reliable! For example the information given above should be M10 and M12 - but hey I'm probably being a bit fussy. Some times their conversions from metric to imperial units are way off and sometimes they are just plain wrong. I do think though that these are reasonable values. Perhaps someone who is at one with the FSM can help? |
Thank you! I will be a week or so before I remove and install new plate for manual conversion, but this gives me a good ideal.
