high-res schematics

1977.123.123.schematic-BW.png

above is the best capture of my 240D's schematic that i could get out of the haynes manual. the source was not quite as as good as i had hoped, for the purpose of printing myself a poster for the garage. i thought you all would like to see it, though, and maybe, someone will know where a better quality version of these schematics could be found. is it in mercedes' own service manuals? any references are very welcome. meantime, you can check out my pixel-twaddling work (straight GIMP). the B&W image is rather large, 8000 pixels on a side, but again, it's grottier than i would like for reprinting. thanks all!

No image. I think it's a bad link, but in addition, uploaded images are limited to 800x600.

Post the image to a dedicated image site and then reference the link to that in your post.

For high quality printing, you'll want a 300dpi image, so your 8000px image should be fine for a 26 in wide poster. If course that's if the original image was that resolution. Sounds like you scanned out of Haynes and then up sampled which would make the image extremely pixellated.

mach4, thanks for pointing out that the link was broken. this courtesy of the lovely little editor they give us. here is one i have fixed more attentively. FYI, no upscaling was involved. i used a grain extract layer, gaussian blur, and levels adjustment, after recombining the elements from three printed pages.

The same image is available in Volume 2 of the W123 FSM. There's about a half dozen of them for various models and years.

I'll highlight in the copy attached here that the wire color codes are in German; black - schwartz = SW, yellow = gelb = ge.

The colors in most of the FSM diagrams are anglicized.

hi yak, thanks for that observation. i bet that was where haynes got it from... and it lost some quality in the transition. if the FSM was printed in a quality fashion... which it must have been?... i will do better to get a copy straight from there.

Here's the 123 FSM itself. Free from Mercedes's Star TekInfo website:
