No Auxiliary Fans in las Vegas help please

What more can I say? 1999 e300
Started to run warm on vacation in Las Vegas. The auxiliary electric fans in front of the rad are not turning.

What are the usual first things to check.

Anyone know a good independent in Vegas?

Thanks

You could hot wire them.

How do you know. I don't even hear mine when they are running.

Also, warm can be a relative term here in the desert. If you're climbing over 90-95c, then you're running warm. I tend to stay between 80-85c depending on driving conditions. I can crawl above 85c if in stop & go traffic and lots of idling.

I can open the hood and see that they are not turning.
110C and climbing without turning heat to max!

Trust me they are not turning, AC is cold before being shut down.

I just replaced mine on the 97 E420. If you pull a plastic cover on the top right side of the fan grill, you'll see the switch, unplug it and put a direct power source (battery or jumper pack) and see if the fan spins.

The reason I say to try this first is because the fans are known to go bad. There is a great write up on the wiki about how to replace them.

Yeah, definitely do the hot wire from the battery test to see if the fan/s is/are indeed bad. If the fan/s turn good then you've saved yourself having to replace it/them.

On the 210 you can switch the aux fans on via the climate control unit. I forget exactly how off-hand. I think you press and hold the auto buttons. Do a search on Benzworld in the 210 forum.

Press and hold both auto buttons for around 15 seconds.
