So i was in line at a neighborhood Mc.Donalds (just getting ice cream) and i heard a loud pop folowed by white smoke! I was only 85 today. My Diesel started to spin the tires (thank god my foot was planted on the brake)! I put it in park and shut the car off at the key and nothing, kept at 6000rpm! I opened the hood and pushed the IP stop lever and nothing. I saw a ton of smoke from my filter/ dryer area around the compressor safety switch i think. The smoke really burnt inside my lungs

i yanked the cold air intake hose of and put my hand over it! That killed her. It was not running for more than 30 seconds like this so no harm done i hope. I did not know that 134a could burn. Geeze! I have had my a/c working well on a 100+ degree day so far. I think what caused it was my aux fan relay being out. This was the only day so far i have driven it without that fan running. I took the relay out because of a low battery and wanted it to charge quicker while i was out. Really bummed

Have any of you had an a/c problem like this? If it was R12 the high side would be fine now.
