Foam type insulation on plastic belly pans under W124

When I took my plastic belly pans off recently, I had to scrape away the foam insulation put there by the factory.

The 1" of foam was oil soaked and beginning to turn to mush.

Any idea what was used and what I might be able to replace it with?

It's a late W124
