Anyone try the NAPA brand glow plugs?

Part Number: CRB 229750
Everything I can find on this site seems to point to Bosch or OEM being the better brands to stick with, the reason I ask about the Napa is they have a 36 month warrenty as opposed to 12 months on the Bosch.
Anyone tryed the Napa? Antone know who make the napa brand?

I used autolite, but everyone I talk to has me scared to death using anything other than the bosch...seems anything else does not want to come out in one piece. I have had the autolite in for a week, and upon installation they were already loose like the poor product they are....

spend the extra 4 bucks a piece and get the good stuff....worth it in the long run, with or without the waranty

Bosch glow plugs last a long, long time, well past their warranty.

To steal a famous line from another company:

Bosch. There is no substitute.

The glow plug starts out life nice and pointy on the end. Cheap ones turn into cauliflower on the end after a while. Needless to say it won't come out easy in that condition.

Or another stolen line
You can pay me now, or pay me later.

Beru another german label may well be as good as bosch. No others are really even close in my opinion to these two. That is at the current time.

I am not saying that they are Autolites in a NAPA Box but after 6 months use I had difficulty getting 2 out of my Head.

I don't think any warranty covers what it would take to get the Glow Plugs out if they had been stuck.

Also to claim a warranty you need to keep track of the Paper Work; which in my case I lose 1/2 of the time.

If you get them online Bosch Glow Plugs are inexpensive and entirely adequate.

If someone needs more detailed info on how to make their Glow Plugs last longer and which brands:

Bosch it is
thanks for all the insight, I think their 12 bucks each here in Fairbanks, sounds good to me.
Here's a pic of a failed Bosch I pulled last night. ( 1&5 tested bad, with conformation by 12v glow test ) No idea how old these are, no records from PO

I read this in many threads, but I've never seen anyone post actual time or miles so I'll go first.

OM603 with afterglow

2/23/2008 changed 2 glow plugs 214,500
4/1/2008 changed 1 glow plug 215,200
6/20/2008 changed 3 glow plugs 217,800

I had number one fail this winter (2012) in February and I put one of the three that were still OK when I changed the last 3 in June of 2008 back in. The others are still going strong. The car is mostly city driven with frequent starting. I also hooked up the violet wire afterglow using the 50 degree transmission softening switch.

I also reamed the carbon out of all 6 glow plug holes when I did the remaining 3 glow plugs in June. I also use b-50 in the winter and b-99 in the summer.

So 5 of 6 have lasted 4 years and over 50,000 miles.

I would confirm what Whunter has said. I learned about glow plugs when I had a 7.3 NA in a Ford van. Champions, Autolites all had a very short service life. I even had an AL fail after just a few starts, and then it expanded so much it would barely come out of the engine. A set of OEM Beru's from the local Ford dealer solved the problem.

Glow Plug life kind of goes along with what is happening in the Precombustion Chamber. Worn Injectors, late Valve and Fuel Injection Pump timing and Carbon Build up around the Element (Reaming or otherwise cleaning the Carbon out helps) all shortens the life of the Glow Plug.
The After Glow set-up could also shorten the life.

Dealer-bought, Mercedes-branded glow plugs are Beru. Bosch is also a good brand. Put a little anti-seize on the threads before installation and you will be less likely to have removal problems later on. Before attempting removal, soak the threads with Kroil or PB-Blaster and have the engine warm -- glowplugs seem to come out of a warm engine easier.

While on the subject, has anyone tried NGKs? I've only used Bosch (and I always replace them all at the same time), but just curious.

I edited my post. I reamed all 6 holes when I replaced the remaining 3.
