87 300d Turbo Hard Starting When Cold

Hard start when cold but after about 15 tries of sputter and stall, it runs fine. It does "nail" intermittently at idle for a few minutes but when it warms up no nailing. It also restarts instantly when it is warm. Glow plug resistance OK (.7 ohms) and the gp relay is putting out 12 volts at all terminals. After my first test drive which was OK, I noticed a large fuel leak about 1 drop per second of of the rear section of the IP. Could this leak also be an air leak causing my hard starting? I also noticed a small vacuum line disconnected located behind the passenger headlamp. It connects to a small filter.

Are there seals on the IP?

Could there be excessive carbon build-up in the prechamber hindering the GP performance and causing the nailing?
