New Slot Nut Tool
After reading the excellent post by Dave Morrison on rear wheel bearing service I decided to do the job as I had a little rattle in one wheel and needed new disks and parking shoes anyway.
Not having a slot nut socket I decided to build one from a large socket. To guarantee the socket stayed in place I added a 1/4 - 20tpi rod and using the old washer tighten the bolt to secure the socket in the nut. As I tighten the slot nut I also tighten the holding bolt. On a side note. I was amazed how much torque it takes to set the bearing space. That crush sleeve is a tough little sucker. I had a 5' pipe on the ratchet. The job went well. Thanks Dave.
