Vacuum pump bearing: loose or tight?
So I bought a used ebay vacuum pump for the OM617. Then I removed my original pump. Turns out, it may have just been the leaky gasket that was the biggest issue.
The used pump I bought has very, very tight bearings, to the point that it almost seems they are catching on something. But in the original pump, the bearings are so 'smooth' that I can spin the wheel and it will freely continue to spin very freely. So, which is preferable? Tight or loose? I already put the original pump back on, mostly in the interest of needing to drive the car. I intend to return the ebay pump as 'faulty'. Thanks in advance, JD |

That's *exactly* what I was thinking but wanted to confirm.
