Thinking about a 1987 300TD

Been wanting a 1987 300TD and found this one on ebay...says it was owned by a former enthusiast that fits the description of many of us on this board

"The person I bought the car from was a life-long Mercedes collector. He switched out the original engine with one with very low miles with the better, sought after head. The actual mileage on the current engine is about half of the odometer reading. He didn't have the exact numbers for me. He also had a bunch of other Mercedes vehicles and all of them were in excellent condition, superbly maintained and driven responsibly. It was a little bit like adopting a baby from him as he had a hard time letting it go."

Was this the former car of anyone around here? Would be interested to hear anything else about it.

With that said, anyone thinking of parting with a w124 300TD here? I have a mechanically sound 1986 300SDL to offer up in trade (full or partial).
