Unless I completely misinterpret your picture, the intake makes a 90 degree turn at the front just after the opening for the air filter hose. The intakes on my vans lacked that 90 degree turn.

You could easily fit a 617 turbo in there with a forward sweeping exhaust manifold, and replace the mechanical fan with electric.

Nice turbo system. I don't think it's that easy to retrofit a turbo on XX7 or 9d van. The passenger floor interferes with the location of the turbo. You could modify the doghouse pretty easily but the floor is something else.
