Glad you found it, given that it's unobtainium. You DID bring The Bride some flowers or something, right?

Dan

Ooooh, good idea!

I decided to go ahead with the aftermarket gauges because Michael had already made a new insert for them and it looks very nice. I'll restore the original dash and gauges and either keep it for the next owner in case he wants to use them, or use them myself later or sell them off if I can get a staggering price for it.;)

Next thing is to solve the front springs mystery. The ones supplied are too tall and too stiff, apparently. I am considering air bags instead.

I think air bags would be great - you are certainly in the right country for that technology

Do you HAVE to make it political?;)

I didn't mean it like that! I usually do my best to side step such situations.

To put it in context I'd speak with Americans about air bagging - ladies from Essex about tea bagging - and the Dutch about LPG conversions.

I hope I've made it clear for you all!

Today I discussed with Michael the front springs. If you remember the ones sent by fatman were too long and or too stiff. I bought some second hand springs for a mustang 2 v6. Michael has installed them on the car and they are better but too tall still. He's gonna cut them down a half coil and we'll see how that works. To be adjusted later when everything else is done. Wiring now too and installing dash and switches. I'm gathering chrome parts too.

This may turn into a truck pretty soon! Sounds like good progress.

Yea, what will we do when it is all finished?

t walgamuth 02-21-2015 11:31 AM

I am hoping to get it running and driving soon. then I'll need to get the interior done and there will be a zillion other details to finish.

I visited Michael's shop today. He has the springs sorted now. the car is sitting down pretty nicely now with a modest amount of rake front to back, with the tires centered well in the fenders with about 2" clearance all around. He has the instruments installed and they look really good. the dash is repainted and is looking good also. He's trying to get it running and driving in the next month or so.

Woo hoo!
