Well, I heard it run today. The straight pipe is not loud at all;) Unfortunately there are quite a few things left to do....E brake, oil pressure line, side windows, rest of trim.
Not that much really. I hung trim on the hood today and the nose. It won't shut off. He had not installed a vac res. Will this defeat the shut off by solinoid? I suggested he install a vac res and he produced one about the size of a grapefruit....will this be big enough? Also needs AC hoses and power steering hoses. I need fittings for the ac compressor and the condenser....anybody have some? |
I had a straight pipe on my 56 dodge, with the exit in front of the right rear tire. It was not loud ... until I went by a brick mailbox or car or other structure. Then it was loud. Put a resonator on it and it took care of that problem.
For shutoff, I used the MB overboost solenoid w/o any vacuum tank. It works fine. Naturally, there is a slight delay between turning the key off and actual shutdown compared to a gas engine, but the delay is only a second or less. Bob |

For power steering hoses (MB pump, Dodge Omni steering rack), I used AN fittings and braided stainless hose. An alternative is to go to a business that makes hydraulic hoses for tractors--if you go to an auto supply hose they will likely not make them because of possible liability.
AC hoses. Have you converted to a Sanden compressor? Vintage Air has a hose kit that may work. Summit carries the kit. Hope this helps get you on the road. |

Do not take this the wrong way Tom but the color is exactly like the buff colored urethane primer, and it kinda looks like they just sprayed some semi gloss clear over that, you should have used a lighter beach sand color, like the dodge, jeep , mini, light tan color.
