It is great for both yourself and us to see the end of the road in sight for this project. Most of us await a drivers report.

I attempt to claim I do some projects because I am in my second childhood. The wife as always gently corrects me by telling me. I never got totally clear of the first one in reality.

For some reason my energy level is increasing again. Maybe it's the onset of spring. Anyways the wife had me out today shopping for flooring with her. She bless her heart has a pretty extensive list going for me already this year.

She has been watching too many home update shows as well. . You know the ones where the house is totally revamped in an hour. I have to get that television channel shut down somehow.

Ha ha! The mrs wanted a new couch recently. I wanted to rebuild the old one. We've had it for about 20 years and to me it is cherished as the first quality piece of furniture we ever bought (only really). Its a nice leather couch and has a matching big chair. We ordered a new one with nearly the same color scheme but no big chair...yet.

I resisted but since I have been spending so much on cars lately I could hardly protest.

I was going to take the old couch and put it in my office at my building but apparently she has given it to one of our kids.

Yeah, I imagine she thinks I never left my first on either. I gotta admit, I am a lucky man. I get to fool around with the two things I really like....old cars and old buildings. I've come close to going broke many times but so far have avoided it through concentrated effort and constant search for the angle of attack that will work. When times get tough I just go dormant like one of those frogs that burrows into the mud for dry spells which sometimes last decades in the desert. When it rains again they come out and breed.:P

I am going to make an effort to have this truck drivable by May 5, 2016 for the Studebaker national meet in south bend.

Wish me good fortune!

Every time I see that you've posted to this thread I'm hoping to discover that you're reporting that your project is on the road.

Sounds like it's getting close.

How about a making a walk-around vid at the 'Stude meet, and sharing via the interwebs? (Just a suggestion! :P)

Good fortune, good luck, and god-speed!

Doesn't really show it very well. Trust me though it is pretty nice! #2 at least.

Its mostly perfect with some small pits here and there and a small dent in the edge which I think I can tap out with an oak block. In the olden days did they install these metal grills with some small piece of rubber between it and the paint?

This grill is surprisingly heavy...I'd estimate 6 to 8#. Of course if it were built today it would weigh that many ounces.!;)

I'm heading down tomorrow. Michael is hoping to have it running today.
