He did not call again, so I figure it had to have been a scam attempt as I said nothing to indicate my thoughts.
He called me back and said it would cost $80 to ship. He asked if that sounded fair i said yes, then simply asked how he wanted to go from there. He then said something I did not understand and said he had to go and hung up. If he calls back again, which at this point I don't expect, I will ask him to email me a pic of the fender as a start. |
He didn't call back.
I have been pondering the problem of getting an AC compressor and power steering pump mounted on the old stude motor. There are brackets for the ac so that is probalby ok, but power steering might be a little tricky. is there an electric assisted rack and pinion out there? I am planning to put on a big alternator any how so a little more juice should not be a problem. |
Wish I were there Tom. I'll bet I could fab up a ps pump bracket for it.

There is a whole army of stud enthusiasts in Commerce, TX. I wouldn't be surprised if they can point you toward a ps pump and mount from the same engine family.
They have a number of 50's & 60's V8 cars. If you want I can try to get some contact info. |
What about bracketry from an Avanti? What was the full-size v8 Stude sedan, the Daytona? Wasn't the Lark available with V8 and power steering?
|
The later Larks had 283 Chebbies in 'em. There were plenty of different studs with stud V8's though. It sounds like Tom just needs someone who knows the breed well.

So I have been looking at the parts I have to complete a usable car and some things have been a problem because the po removed and lost them or removed them and damaged them. He said there are still 39 studies in yards around so you can get parts for them, etc.
But parts have been thin on the ground. I need a dash with instruments and guages, a heater, door window mechanisms, door cards, door handle and latch drivers side, Hood hinges, rear bumper, running boards, and so forth. Yesterday I was checking the studey forum and spotted a 39 commander, which is substantially similar to the coupe express for sale for a reasonable price, so I sent him an email requesting pictures and info. He sent me 27 (not 8 x 10 glossies:P) images of the car revealing a complete car with door cards, windows, dash, instruments, heater, bumpers, fenders, and some really nice NOS headlight assemblies, taillight trim misc. stuff including a wiring harness. The door cards and dash are much more arty than the stock coupe express with really stylish art deco details on the knobs, instruments window trim and door cards. So today I put a deposit on it and in the next month or so will be traveling to upstate new york to pick it up. I'm pretty excited about the funky art deco dash and interior details. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.:P |
Sounds like you're on your way to gathering up what you will need. Nothing beats a parts car, even if it's only similar and not a perfect match.
