Thanks guys! So I won't require the heater auxiliary pump?

So it looks like I will need a circulation pump to feed the heater....? I didn't have any good ones so bought one off Ebay. Now in the diagram, which hose do we want to cut to install the heater auxiliary pump into?

Should have let me know, I could have tossed that in the box too.... :D

I lost track of your cabin heater setup. Is it a MB type that regulates coolant flow or a GM truck type has has continuous coolant flow and airflow regulating flap? If the MB type, do you have enough of the control system to turn on and off the aux pump based on desired cabin temp? I suppose you can leave it always running. The natural environment for the aux pump is between the monovalve and waterpump inlet. Mind the flow direction ;)

OK. So does the coolant come in or go out from the wp inlet? There is no monovalve just a vintage air unit inside the cab.

I'll have to see if I can find a piping diagram for the VA unit.

Coolant returns from the cabin heater to the water pump. Coolant leaves the engine through the hose by the oil filter which connects to the heater core. The monovalve is downstream of the heater core.

Hmm... does the VA have a loose cable or wires to control a coolant flow valve? If not, it probably relies on continuous coolant flow. I don't think you need an aux pump if you don't have the restriction of a monovalve.

If you have one of these, you might benefit from an aux pump - http://www.vintageair.com/Instructions2013/903401.pdf

Looks like all their kits have a coolant flow control valve.

OK, so I need the pump and it goes between the VA unit and the water pump on the return side. The supply side in the MB engine comes from over by the oil filter....right?

Thanks Sixto! I owe you again buddy! I'm gonna have to buy beer and lunch next time I'm in Frisco!

Yes, supply comes out of the head by the oil filter.

There's still the matter of powering the aux pump. It should be powered whenever the coolant flow valve is open. VA offers both electric and vacuum valves. There might be a continuous signal component to the electric valve. You'll need a dedicated aux pump switch otherwise.

It won't really hurt to run it all winter will it?

sixto 01-03-2017 05:44 PM

Probably does when installed in a MB.

Today the Mrs., the dog and I want to Cambridge City and dropped off my front bumper at the Chrome shop which used to be near Hagerstown. they have a big new facility in a block building with lots of room and light.

$575 with tax and four month backlog.

Yipes!

We then visited Antique stores in Cambridge City, Centerville and other small towns on the Old National Road (US40).

I bought some stuff for my building. A couple of old fireplace mantles, a piece of stained glass and a nice picture for the wall.

These should last 4 months -
