I'm using a Speedway "spoon" type pedal assembly, kind of a street rod kind of part. Then there's a cable - again, universal hot rod part - out to the rack actuator. I probably won't have a chance to get a pic for a few days as we'll be out of town but if you look thru my build thread you'll probably find a shot or two - the pics should be fairly near the start of the thread. If they're not on here go to:

"As promised, Dan's (sorta) New LSR Project"

There are a ton of pics on BS but it's a huge thread.

The down side to my setup is that the pedal movement is really short from idle to full rack. Not an issue for my application but might get tiring on the street. Still, you can make it work by extending the arm on the rack linkage so you get more travel.

A nice thing about the Speedway pedal is that it's almost infinitely adjustable so you can put the pedal anywhere you want it in terms of height off the floor, pedal angle, etc.

And one could use a generic door lock selonoid as a shut down device pushing the ip linkage too

Good idea. We have that working well now. Thanks very much for your thoughts!

Today am pondering about the seating arrangements. I have been planning to use the original seat which my Grandfather Loren may have built. Lately though after folks have slid in and out during the build the seat is very saggy. When I get in I settle down feels like 6". So I need someone to rebuild it I suppose.

As a quickie fix until I find someone reliable to rebuild it I am considering AH sprite seats or some of those crazy bomber seats that are all the rage now.

Comments?

Your backside deserves nothing less than W188 seats which should be narrow enough to fit -

They are lovely but the backs are way too thick to fit in the short coupled Coupe Express.

Slum it with 190SL seats -

Having had cervical spine surgery, probably as a result of a rear end collision, I would not use seats without some form of neck protection.

I'll probably pad the cab around the head area as that is where my head will be....about 2" from the metal cab.

Crashing in the CE is not something I wish to contemplate. Collapsing steering wheel shaft and three point belt from the 300CD is the extent of crash protection.

that's head on, ever studied the "door jams" on a old vehicle like this?

The 30's gm pickups would be a death trap in anything serious like a T bone,
there is no door jam -a car hitting one of those--the door would get punched straight in... there is no inner jam to prevent it from coming in.

Oh yes, I'm dead.

Today I picked it up from the Indie's place. I took it out for a test drive of a couple of miles. It has a nice feel to it, nice and stable. Needs alignment though. So I loaded it up and dropped it at the alignment shop.

Unfortunately I have lost or misplaced my cell phone....drat!

Dan Stokes 01-17-2017 03:43 PM

Given that we're old people sometimes one or the other of us can't find our phone. The person who can still find his/her phone calls the lost one and all we have to do is track down the ring - problem solved! Of course, if it's well and truly lost you're still screwed.

Worth a try......

We tried that. Mine only vibrates.

As we used to say back in the day - "Bummer!"........

When I picked up the Studie at the alignment shop the tech said, oh by the way I found a Cell phone on the running board!

Wooo hooooo!
