124 LIGHTS OUT

I have a 1993 300d and after being store for 2 years I noticed the lights are not all working, the only park light working is the drivers rear and even the dash lights are out , I am thinking the switch itself but not sure does anyone have any ideas thanks

I know you probably did this but check all your light fuses. After being in storage the ends may have corroded and are not making good contact. The dash lights could be out because the rheostat has finally died, or it also has become corroded. Try turning the knob back and forth 20 times or so. It may scrub off some of the corrosion, if that is the problem. All that said you may be right with the light switch. See if you can find one from a salvage yard. You may also be able to clean the switch you have.

Thanks you for the reply, the bulbs are all good and I did clean the fuses and I wound the reostat several times and did not even get a blink that is why I thought it may or must be the switch. I can get a new aftermarket switch for 40.00 so I will order it and see what happens, Other than the light issue the car is perfect and I am glad to have it back .

STILL SOME LIGHTS OUT

I put in the new switch and got the same results no park lights in the front , I did recheck the fuses and the #3 fuse was bad .Now the only thing not working is the right side park lights, the small light on the outside in the back is working but there is no power to the main rear park light and it is the same for the front right park light there is no power there either. Is there a relay anywhere in the system or any place I can check for a break thanks for any help.

IIRC your light switch has a spot where you can turn on the parking lights on just one side. Does your switch have that selection?

Go to w124-zone.com, register for their site, and go to the online service manual.

Under chapter 24 there is a complete set of schematics for the car.

I don't have handy the manual for the 91-95 124s but on the 1st gen 124s the marker lights are on fuses 3 and 8.

Also check your big light monitor relay in the back half of the fuse box. It is the huge relay on the outboard row and just about every light circuit in the car goes through there. I recommend undoing the inner frame of the relay box and lifting out the relay with the wires still attached, it is a pain to plug it in from the top.

I do have a spare light module and it does seem funny that there is no light malfunction light in the dash even though the right side is not working so maybe that is the issue . I will try that next and see what happens thank you
