On a similar note - I have observed that my 3000 mile drained out Dino 15W40 oil if left in the oil container settles the soot down - Leaving the oil quite clean.
I also can get hold of a few gallons of 50 or something hours used CAT or LE diesel oil. It also settles soot like my car's oil. Are such CAT or LE oils good to use? |

Back in the late seventies one of the guys in the Chemistry department did oil analysis with an IR Spectrophotometer. Wonder if you could get one cheap on ebay?
