Fuel Pump Rebuild?

Does any one have a recommendation for a Bosch fuel pump re-builder in Southern California. The car is an '87 300D and the pump needs a complete rebuild.
Thanks,
Anziani

Since the subject car is a Diesel, you may do better by posting to the Diesel forum. Doktor Bert writes frequently on that forum, and is in Palm Springs.

I would be interested to know of stateside rebuilders of pumps and their capabilities. I Know of http://www.dieselmeken.sefrom what I've heard (read) about people using his services to have their pumps "done"

Are you rebuilding the injection pump or fuel pump (bolted to the injection pump). The IP will need to be professionally rebuilt and calibrated. However the fuel pump can be done easily, DIY.

FYI, fuel pump:

Thanks guys. The minute I posted it was when I realized that the Diesel Section is where I should be. I ask this because my mechanic has a friend that is an ex-Mercedes mechanic who owns a 300D. They need the pump rebuilt as they have gone as far as their knowledge took them.
I'll repost.

It would actually be better for them if one of them became a Member of the Forum and posted the problem and what they have done and think the problem is.

The reason for that is the Fuel Injection Pump itself is extremely reliable; meaning most always it is something else causing the problem.

Also in General good used Fuel Injection Pumps can be had for 1/2 or less of the cost of a rebuilt one.

Any Bosch certified Fuel Injection Shop should be able to do a complete rebuild and calibratin of a Bosch Fuel Injection Pump.

Fuel Injection Sales and Service, El Monte, CA has been around for a long time and has a big well equipped Shop. But, they are not Cheap and do a large volume of business; meaning you might have to wait a bit to get the Pump back.

Diesel 911,
I'll pass that info on. Also I found 4-5 Bosch shops within 20 miles of here. Interestingly enough, the problem car belongs to the retired Senior Benz mechanic. They had taken it apart but found internal wear that they could not get to without further disassembly.
Thanks for your input.
Anziani
