Heater burning smell

For some reason I've been struggling to figure out what is burning in my HVAC system. I know that there might be a fan resistor inside the HVAC box that might have stuff on it (but there's also a very visible resistor setup on the passenger side firewall that I'm assuming goes to the ACC) or it could be some junk on the heater core burning. I'm not leaking coolant as far as Im aware and thus far I haven't leaked much oil at all. This smell almost smells like burning leaves, but I'm not really ready to take apart the 300D to get the HVAC box out...yet.

Any thoughts?

The fan makes no noise like bearings, just the smell sometimes drives me nuts.
