'49 Ford project with an OM617 and 4-speed

It's here. It needs work, but the basics of the conversion appear to have been done. Ugly little thing.

I always get a kick out of looking in the background of the photos.
This one has lots of weirdness. Big newish mcmansions with the front yard full of ATV's and mowers. We're sort of educated hillbillys but don't leave our toys sit out in the weather. Makes me wonder about the people living in this house.

I wish he had included pics of the engine bay. I wonder just how much wiring it needs

I also wish I had the cash... I really like old pickups, and if he has the motor and tranny installed properly, much of the heavy lifting is done.

Would love to do that to a 1970s F100/F150.

Truck would have been much more valueable with its original driveline IMO. If you want to build a diesel project, start with something that has no value as a collectible.

" It should get 25+ miles to a gallon"

Really? I thought MB diesels got closer to 50? <-----sarcasm!

I just think that MPG is the last thing any potential buyer is worried about with this specimen.

It's a rusted out 49 Ford truck. Very cool truck but nowhere near the point of blaphemy because of a driveline swap. It would cost $20k to restore it to a decent grade. It's priced about $1500 over what similar local to me trucks have been selling for without the diesel swap. I would be over at their house today with cash if the truck was local.
