W124 P/S Pump ZF / Vickers Interchangeability

A couple of things went wrong all of sudden on my '91 300D over the Christmas weekend. First, got some questionable fuel from Murphy USA at a local Wal-Mart. Car stumbles, skips, and shakes at stop lights. Added some Power Service diesel additive but it didn't make a difference. Probably it is the injector time.

Before I could sort that out, the P/S pump started making loud screeching noise like some bearing could seize at any moment. Took the belt off and spin the pulley clockwise (belt driven direction) by hand and I can definitely hear clicking noise. The shaft has noticeable play as well. The local LKQ yard has 2 190E's and a '93 300E. According to MB manual, the W201 P/S pumps have a 85 bar opening pressure while the W124 pumps (both ZF and Vickers) have a 110 bar opening pressure. The P/S pump on the 300D is a ZF pump. Pulled the Vickers pump from the '93 300E and figured it may work. Well, it almost did except for that the supply port on the Vickers pump has a larger thread than the hose fitting on the 300D. So I assume the ZF pumps and Vickers are not interchangeable. Did anybody else have the same experience?

Also, if anybody has a good ZF pump for W124 (110 bar) please PM or email me. I posted a WTB thread on the classified section but figured some of us may not visit that area very often.

Do you think the 87 Tdt pump is what you need? I have one of those on my parts car. I'll check it tomorrow

the TDT (wagon) pump will have dual pumps... so he'd need to do something with the extra lines, or damage it running it without oil on the SLS side...
I have a 93 300D parts car. PM if you think it'll fit. tell me what size wrench the fittings use, and I'll check mine.

the tandem pump from the wagon probably will not work but please keep it handy as us the 300TDT owners may need that someday.

The '93 300D pump should work. Is it a ZF pump? Here are the numbers off the data plate on mine:
Type 7682900109
1507480 (serial #?) 12.90 (date of manufacture)
124 460 02 80 (MB part no)

Wrench sizes: supply 17mm, return 19mm

Thanks,
Tan
