Well what exactly were you doing? Flex disc intact? Don't junk the car because of a transmission issue.

The other Member might have meant Flex Plate.

Some have had issues with the Yoke on the Transmission output shaft.

in drive, e-brake off. No movement what so ever

There is a little window at the bottom of the Bell Housing. You should be able to see if the Torque Converter is turning or not.

I hope you did this with the Rear Wheels off of the Ground and the Front Wheels blocked.

If the Torque converter is seems to be moving normally you might listen with a Mechanics Stethoscope or a substitute and see if you can here movement inside of the Transmission and how far down on the Transmission the noise goes.

If the Car is level enough while the Engine is running check the ATF level. If the level is high (I am guessing) it could mean one of the Pumps inside is not working.

I am not sure what model trans goes in your Car but on another Forum ARMY was saying that the 722.1** or the 722.2** had issues with the Tabs on the front Pump Drive wearing or shearing off. I think that is what I remember from the thread.
