w116 300sd 1979 Alda Removal

Have 15/16 and 1 1/16 thin wrenches and cannot remove the ALDA. The larger nut is solid and will not budge. The smaller and thinner nut is also hard to turn. Could it be that I'm turning the bottom larger nut the wrong way. I was trying to loosen it by turning counter clockwise. The thinner nut closest to the ALDA was also hard to get to and I was trying to turn it Clockwise but also did not budge. I tried to position the wrenches so that I could just squeeze them together for better leverage but did not work. I just sprayed some PB(blaster) on both nuts hoping that it will soak in overnight...any suggestions? The wrenches that I'm using are super thin but sturdy and not too long or short. Very hard to get leverage.
