what is the electrical switch that works when hood on 95 E300D is opened
I have noticed an electrical switch that operates when the hood on a 1995 E300D is opened and closed. I do not see any light that it controls. Could someone educate me on this? Thanks

If it is a plunger switch, it's likely to be for the factory alarm system.

Its for the factory alarm.
There was also a hood engine room lamp sold as a genuine accessory for the W124 - it was also wired to that switch for ground and the positive was took from the parking lamps. The light mounts on the front edge of the hood.
