Good used parts?

Good day,

Does anyone have some links to some good used part suppliers, wreckingyard, junkyard, whatnot, that specializes in MBZ vehicles. We have used Bavarian Auto Recycling from time to time for BMW, but don't really have a good MBZ alternative. We're looking for somewhere that will locate and ship parts, not a pick'n'pull type place, or anywhere that we'd have to go pick up the parts. I searched around, but didn't seem to find a thread on this subject, which surprised me a little, I thought there'd be one.

Thanks for any pointers you might be able to provide.

MV

I know you're on the other side of the country, but Potomac German Auto (Potomac German Auto: Nations's Largest Since 1979) is pretty decent. They have a yard near me (but you can't go in, only gawk from the fence line).

I think they are under a different name now, but AAA Small Car World in Fort Worth has been an outstanding supplier in the past. A little googling would probably turn them up.

Another alternative, which has been really effective for me, is the "used parts for sale and wanted" subforum (accessible off the main forum page).

You don't have to wait for someone to list an item -- just place an ad with "want to buy" (WTB) in the header. If you don't get response in a few days, bump your post after a week or two.

Has been 100 percent for me so far, and I can say for sure the prices I've paid have been more than fair, even with shipping north to Canada.

You need to introduce yourself to a few of the hobbists on here that have good used parts for sale. Please allow me to introduce myself to get the ball rolling. My forum id is "daw_two"; however, you can call me "daw" for short.

Another good guy on the forum who lives quite a bit closer to you is Charlie. He's on the forum a lot and even has a wife that enjoys going to the junkyard with him. I keep telling him that something ever happens to him, I'm sure a bunch of us guys will be looking out for her.

And we aren't the only guys that sale parts......go look in the Parts Forum section off the main page.

Good Luck!

Well, see, that's the thing. I'm not inquiring for a specific part or car, so much as I am looking for a reliable supplier. Several of our customers cars are getting up there in years, and we're starting to see the dreaded "NLA" notation more and more often. So we're looking for a place we can turn to supply the parts. I'll have to look at the For Sale forum here, I guess I overlooked that one. I'm not above dealing with members here for hard to find items, but we're mainly looking for a place we can set up a wholesale account with that has a decent amount of inventory and fast shipping. A plus would also be a place that knows the cars fairly well, and knows how to take them apart without destroying the part in need (cough, cough, LKQ, cough, fuel tank...).

Thanks for the leads so far, my parts guy is looking into them.
