606 Block heater Cable alternative?

Hi, was looking into getting my block heater working. And after finding out all 98-99s had the heater plug installed, and finding the part #600-200-00-96 to the cable. I call my local dealer and I learn the part in no longer available. What can I do? Are their any other options to use in it's place?

Saw this on another forum and can't vouch for accuracy but you could have a look...

"This post has been more than helpful. I found that the 1998 has the same plug as a Massey Ferguson 180 Diesel. So instead of paying the stealership $89 for the cord, I simply put aluminum foli around my cord where it runs beneath the exhaust and turbo. The MF part number for the whole plug and cord is A-7733. You can even find them on eBay. It should run you no more than $50. Hope this helps."

Also, Ford Powerstrokes use a cord that looks very similar to ours. You can find them on eBay.

I used a cable from NAPA, part # KAT 28216.

Now that's what I'm talking about! You guys are great. They have it at my local NAPA in stock. Only thing the dealer found close was in germany with a euro socket and it came with the heater plug at $480ish.

Your dealer wasn't trying very hard to find the right part (seems to be a common issue lately). The block heaters have had a standard plug for ages, I am sure they still have them available. I bet you can still get block heaters for even recent engines if you wanted.

the nut is a standard garden hose thread... the NAPA cord is a PERFECT fit on the OM6xx motors...

Cord installed and drawing 480 watts on my kill-o-wall meter. After a few minutes the base is very hot to the touch. This should help with cold weather starting a ton.:)
