606 Block heater Cable alternative?
Hi, was looking into getting my block heater working. And after finding out all 98-99s had the heater plug installed, and finding the part #600-200-00-96 to the cable. I call my local dealer and I learn the part in no longer available. What can I do? Are their any other options to use in it's place?

Saw this on another forum and can't vouch for accuracy but you could have a look...
"This post has been more than helpful. I found that the 1998 has the same plug as a Massey Ferguson 180 Diesel. So instead of paying the stealership $89 for the cord, I simply put aluminum foli around my cord where it runs beneath the exhaust and turbo. The MF part number for the whole plug and cord is A-7733. You can even find them on eBay. It should run you no more than $50. Hope this helps." Also, Ford Powerstrokes use a cord that looks very similar to ours. You can find them on eBay. |

Your dealer wasn't trying very hard to find the right part (seems to be a common issue lately). The block heaters have had a standard plug for ages, I am sure they still have them available. I bet you can still get block heaters for even recent engines if you wanted.

Cord installed and drawing 480 watts on my kill-o-wall meter. After a few minutes the base is very hot to the touch. This should help with cold weather starting a ton.
