I think the decimal needs to go one place to the left and a zero drop off to be realistic.

The dash is cracked? Yikes....it looks like dry cracked mud after the water receded.

The interior is dirty, dirty inside the left air vent, steering wheel is smooth, wood is coming off. I agree, sitting in a weed patch doesn`t give it credability. Those are steel wheels, not light alloy, can see some rust on the R/F.

It is a "DIESAL".

I like the color, black interior, and the analog Becker radio. looks like a decent wagon looking at it from 1200 miles away. :D

Here is a question and answer from the seller:

http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/x.gifQuestion & AnswerAnswered OnQ: I own a MB "older" diesel which I am restoring. The previous car I restore was my 1934 Bentley. Honestly, these wagons are not that "rare". There are many available, if you look on the internet. The asking and sale prices are similar to the one you are advertising. However, the all are in pristine condition and working order. Might I suggest that you offer this at a realistic price for the owner or sell it as a parts car. "The owner doesn't care if it sells" tells me that there is a large amount of sentimental value here. Unfortunately that kind of value will not be satisfied by any price and that is as it should be. A realistic price, in my view, if you want any bidders would be under $800.00. People will pay for quality but not for something that needs new dash, windows and is viewed sitting in tall grass. I hope that my view has helped bring reality to pricing and possibly selling this once-fine Mercedes. Good luck!Apr-19-13A:

You obviously havent read or absorbed the description of the vechicle and perfect report given by e-bay, What made you think this isnt working?? It runs great and we have already been offered close to our price, I honestly dont know why people like you bother to comment since they clearly want to intimidate and manipulate honest genuine sellers into thinking they have a heap on their hands. Go back to your Bently and good luck on pulling a skam on some other seller! We are not bothered!Ask seller a question

Those look like the light alloy wheels to me... all other observations are correct if not a little charitable :D

"On Apr-14-13 at 11:59:14 PDT, seller added the following information:
The tires are good shape, not dry rotted at all, the roof interior is perfect, all is in order. Please do not make offers after this listing has ended, the owner does not care if it does not sell, and does not need to be harassed with dealers, this vehicle is 'unique' and in outstanding condition for 32 years."

LOL. sorry... I need whatever he is drinking....

Someone needs to link him here to see some truly outstanding condition cars that happen to be 32 years (or older)

I see no evidence that they are anything but steel wheels.

all the alloy wheels I've seen have a white stripe around the center ridge.
broken stripe is the 5" solid stripe is the 6"

Correct. I didn't know until about 5 minutes ago when I took a magnet to the wheels on my 280E that the steel rims came like that. I thought they all looked like these since these were all I had ever seen. Thanks for bursting my bubble and joy of having 6 inch light alloys on my 280E ;)

Hmm... I've never seen any MB with wheels like that. not sure what they are. are they stock? do they have MB part numbers on them?

oh...
I've got a FULL 5 wheel set of 6" alloys for sale if anybody wants them... (the 5th one still has the original MB spare on it never driven on...)

Golfing accident does not have to be from a ball. Given the " lady driver " I'm thinking woman scorned . . and the initials TW. .. . .

In the first listing he says he is not a dealer but then says the owner does not care if the car sells. This sounds like at minimum he knows nothing about the car and is posting it for someone.

I'd ask for:

Service records. ( proof of oil changes every 3,000 mi )

Proof that there is only one owner, the owners manual should have the data card and 1st owners name.

I'd tell the seller that I want and will pay for a pre purchase inspection at the local dealer.

Or offer him a car in slightly better condition ( but worth $ 600 ) for $ 2,000 so he can flip it at $ 5,000 and make a quick buck.

Every 3,000? The factory recommends every 5,000, I believe...
