Asking price 4500....

"no dents"
Except for the dents on every side of the car.

"one lady driver"
"originally owned by a pilot who took meticulous care of this engine"

Wait.... a woman pilot? Or is this car to be used only for the transportation of one "lady"?

After looking at the pictures, why does the phrase "Rode hard, put up wet" keep coming to mind? :D ;)

A turbo diesel with a clock? I don't think so. That's basically a parts car.

JB3 04-19-2013 10:16 AM

id be interested if the seller admitted that those windows were shot out, not broken by a golf ball. No golf ball ever made is going right through two successive car windows unless fired out of a cannon.

KINDA BELONGS IN THE TURD THREAD...

wow.

I thought all turbo 123's had a tach...

Missing the Hood Star, a deal breaker for sure ....OH and the broken grill.
The dash is cracked? Yikes....it looks like dry cracked mud after the water receded.

The interior is dirty, dirty inside the left air vent, steering wheel is smooth, wood is coming off. I agree, sitting in a weed patch doesn`t give it credability. Those are steel wheels, not light alloy, can see some rust on the R/F.

It is a "DIESAL".

I like the color, black interior, and the analog Becker radio. looks like a decent wagon looking at it from 1200 miles away. :D

Here is a question and answer from the seller:

http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/x.gifQuestion & AnswerAnswered OnQ: I own a MB "older" diesel which I am restoring. The previous car I restore was my 1934 Bentley. Honestly, these wagons are not that "rare". There are many available, if you look on the internet. The asking and sale prices are similar to the one you are advertising. However, the all are in pristine condition and working order. Might I suggest that you offer this at a realistic price for the owner or sell it as a parts car. "The owner doesn't care if it sells" tells me that there is a large amount of sentimental value here. Unfortunately that kind of value will not be satisfied by any price and that is as it should be. A realistic price, in my view, if you want any bidders would be under $800.00. People will pay for quality but not for something that needs new dash, windows and is viewed sitting in tall grass. I hope that my view has helped bring reality to pricing and possibly selling this once-fine Mercedes. Good luck!Apr-19-13A:

You obviously havent read or absorbed the description of the vechicle and perfect report given by e-bay, What made you think this isnt working?? It runs great and we have already been offered close to our price, I honestly dont know why people like you bother to comment since they clearly want to intimidate and manipulate honest genuine sellers into thinking they have a heap on their hands. Go back to your Bently and good luck on pulling a skam on some other seller! We are not bothered!Ask seller a question

It's outstanding in its field.

Really. All Mercedes are worth $4500 on eBay. Didntchaknowdat?

JB3 04-19-2013 11:32 AM

he was truthful in economy though. This seller is a wildcard. This car should be able to break 45mpg, do your taxes, and provide sound advice to the wife on the best type of pants that go with her hair style if other ebay ads are any indication.

npretnar 04-19-2013 12:24 PM

Either no turbo or new Instrument cluster ...

Why aren't there any engine pics? Perhaps the vehicle is turbo-less and he just tacked the badge on the back for the helluvit. Or perhaps it is a turbo and he swapped instrument clusters to get a better mileage read.

Nope. My Euro has the Big clock and no tach.

"one lady driver"

I don't know why people think this is a selling point. My wife beats the hell out of every car we own (I do NOT let her drive the 85) For that matter, every woman I've ever known could not do much more than fill gas, and hope the car gets to a shop a few months after one of those lights on the dash gets bright... not bashing women, just tends to be the norm and I'm sure there are very capable female mechs out there, one of them did not own and drive this car.

charmalu 04-19-2013 12:46 PM

That`s how I picked up the 78 240D for $300, the girl didn`t check her oil, and one day it slowly failed to proceed on the Freeway.

It is not only girls/women, there are a ton of clueless men too.

The asking price in that ad is off by about an order of magnitude.
