FYI manual 4 speed available

FYI to other members. There is an 82 240D in the lKQ in Greensboro NC that has the 4 speed manual, clutch pedal, flywheel, and drive shaft.

I had originally planned to snag it but I already have a 4 speed setup in the garage, that I got out of a Euro 280E a year ago. I bought a 240D flywheel from a member and I need a 240D driveshaft.

I was just going to yank the driveshaft, but my part hoarding tendencies told me to yank the transmission and everything else as well. But after getting drenched in a downpour Friday and after climbing under there today I decided i would just keep shopping for a driveshaft somebody already had rather than spend an entire day on my back taking this thing out.

I did salvage the injectors, glowplug relay, all 4 manual window regulators, the power antenna, orifice, damper 2/1 switch and other vacuum parts, speedometer and the shifter. So It is missing the shifter as I managed to get that out before beeing drowned on friday.

Also found an antenna splitter from hirschman for the CB antenna cable. Never seen one of those before!

Hopefully another member can get out there and grab that 4 speed before it goes to the crusher. Has 130K on it. Looks like it had been sitting in a field for a decade rotting. Had a 98 inspection sticker. Also has a good set of 14 inch bundts. I may got back for those next weekend if they are still there.

ha

Well I was out there in Windsor Saturday. Snagged that 717.411 from the 300e. The driveline was badly buggered so not a go for that. I got a balancing disc off the driveline. It bolts in with the front flex disc. Its made of a metal brace connected to a rubber disc. I plan to use it on the 717.400. I hope it works.
As for the 717.411 it may be a research project.

Well don't sweat that drive shaft. The 300D driveshaft is the same as far as the rear section goes and you have to modify the front section if you put the transmission in behind a 617.

It was the Tornado warning I was more worried about.... If it's still out there this weekend I may just grab it anyways.

Well spent last night in the ER. Found out I have gall stones! so maybee I wont be back to get it this weekend as i'm supposed to take it easy! ( i don;t seem to know how to do this as I get bored easily.) When i lived in North KC I did watch a tornado cut a poath about 1/2 mile south of my house. Had been doing the breaks on the jeep then came the baseball hail. waited, rolled out from under the jeep then roofing nails, insulation, pictures, underwear came falling out of the sky in my yard. I saw my neighbor looking around back just staring up I turned the corner and looked and there it was. Most interesting natural phenomenon I had ever seen. Crap was still falling from the sky but we where just dumbstruck and kept staring. good thing it wasn't coming right for us!
