1972 mercedes 220D Smoking under acceleration
I am looking to purchase a 72 220D however i am concerned about the excessive smoke it is putting out. The Smoke is a light blue/white smoke. It is billowing primarily during acceleration. If sitting at idle it will smoke slightly, not much. The car has been sitting for the past 15 years without being run. At some point before it was parked the engine was rebuilt. I have tried getting specifics but the current owner did not do the rebuild. Unfortunately when i was looking at the car i did not check the antifreeze to see if it had oil/bubbles in it.

Could it be moisture build up in the 15 year old fuel? Next time I look at it I plan to run a compression check on it. It fire up just fine.

Thanks!
Mark
