The Mrs and I are in the Pensacola area visiting my son and his lovely wife and three hell raising sons! Today we visited the big Air museum, and a couple of nearby forts then lunched on the warf next to the marina down town. We just did about an hour of fireworks in the driveway. I am a big chicken and am always ill at ease with sparklers and such fearing a child will get hurt. Many near misses and only a skinned knee from falling on the asphalt was the only ill consequence.

The Mrs and Son are heading out now to Gator Shine. I'm not sure they can actually do it though as the Mrs has not even had one drink yet!

Wild Animal Rescue and Half Price Auto Parts

The LKQ in Tampa (pull your own junkyard) had a half price sale on Independence Day. I had plans to go down there after the local parade up here in Lutz. On the way to the parade my girlfriend spotted an Osprey that was unable to fly in the softball field next to the parade route. She made a few phone calls and we ended up hanging around watching the bird for a couple of hours until a guy from the county animal services arrived to get it. He did a great job capturing and caging bird with minimal stress and left to take it to a raptor rehabilitator.

After all that excitement I made it to the junkyard in time for the afternoon rains and took refuge in a 240D while scavenging for interior parts. It's amazing that the things you need are always the first parts to go at the yard. I did end up with a rust free grill, a set of hood hinges, a speaker fader switch and a first aid kit box for my W123 and the insulation panel for the intermediate firewall in my W124 all for a total of $23.00 so it was a pretty good haul.

The rain came down again last night and cut everyone's fireworks short so there will be plenty more tonight. Tomorrow we are going tubing down the Rainbow River along with just about everyone else in West Central Florida.

I found my self in PNP pulling two rear axles off a 82 300CD, some good looking Annular style.

They are having a 20 - 50% off sale, and 50% on select parts. one of them being Rear Axle Assemblies. I figure a rear axle assy would be the 1/2 shafts. Right? Wrong.

She explains to me these are CV Joints, and the axle assy is a solid axle like under a old 55 Chevy PU. one whole solid unit, and shows me the pic on her Computer.

Why don`t they put that in their description? I must have that MB Tattooed on my fore head, and the price jumps up when I get to the Counter.

So the 2 came to $65.44 including tax, enviro fee, admission fee tax, sales etc...

You might say I saw Fire Works in the PNP yard.

Been batchin since the 13th, Wife is in Portland with our Daughter waiting for the new Baby. It`s due the 8th actually.
I open the Frig, and there is nothing to eat, wife opens it and comes up with a 12 course meal. how do they do that?

Iam down to 3 beers and almost out of Granola Bars, dang, Iam going to starve soon if I don`t replenish my supplies.

I hope every one had a good safe 4th and still have all their fingers.

Charlie

Thanks, guess I missed my calling.

I laid in a new supply of beer (30 pak) but noticed Iam down to 6 granola bars . now need to run over to Costco.

I was telling my Bro in Law last night that all I need is,
"Beer, Granola Bars, Coffee and a good running 240D 4-Spd".

What more in life do we need?
