60K miles.......

Those are wonderful cars. A buddy of mine got an '05 with 26,000 miles on it for $26,000 (yes, $1 per mile!). White with camel interior. We got 33 MPG average on the 100 mile trip back.

Quahog 07-30-2013 10:55 PM

sweet!

imma need to change my pants ;)

I've experienced an '07 E350, so I can only imagine how awesome the diesel is! Nice ride!

I got the year wrong, it is in fact an '07, not '05.

The CDI finally indicated 'low fuel' last evening, which is what I was waiting for to see at what gallonage it takes to fill up from that point.

When I bought the car the first week of June, the dealer in San Antonio filled the tank with diesel, as a courtesy to the buyer, so it took a couple months for me to run through the 1st tank's 19 gallons, even though I drove the car over 300 miles just getting it home.

Yup, just as the Owners Manual indicated, the 'low fuel' indicator illuminated when about (2) gallons shy of empty.

I fueled up immediately, and it took right @ 19 gallons without too much time spent on brimming it. The CDI's fuel tank capacity is rated @ 21.1 gallons - (same as my old '99 E300's was) so this is right on the mark per the manufacturer, as far as when the 'low fuel' light illuminates.

Very nice car!

I spent months looking for a 05-06 W211 CDI and gave up as they are not traded off very often. I found a mint condition '02 W210 E320 just to hold me over until I find a W211 CDI.

Skid Row Joe 06-21-2014 06:00 PM

Thanks for the kind replies!

It's been 1-year and a couple weeks since buying the CDI in SanAntonio.

Have put 2,700 miles on it in that time.

A real pleasure to be owning and driving this car.

Can you update us on pros and cons?

These seem like good used vehicles.

How do you like the E320 CDI compared to other vehicles you have owned? What are the pros/cons? Which options do you think a must haves and nice to have?

Skid Row Joe 07-22-2017 12:19 AM

Owned this '06 E320 CDI 4 years and 2 months.

Only 3k miles a year?? Needs more exercise!! ;)

Super but add convex mirrors to side mirrors

Mine is getting more use. :-)

Best all around road car I have ever driven or ridden in. Comfortable, economical, excellent fit and finish, and fast.

Only real mod I have done is add two blind spot convex mirrors to upper, outside of side mirrors. The European versions have blind spot curvature but these were not allowed by US Gov. on imported vehicles.

Yup......that's it, Shertex! I drive my 2002 E450 7.3 Powerstroke turbo-diesel cutaway RV now for most out-of-town trips!

I hear ya......but I learned how to properly adjust the side mirrors on my MBs over the years to eliminate the blind spots on either side of the car when driving.

I'm glad to hear of your glowing report too!!! 👍

I've never had a problem with a blind spot until the W211. The mirrors are a little smaller than previous models and no matter how adjusted present a blind spot on sides of car.....especially left. Euro mirrors eliminated them completely.

Seriously? 5k miles in 26 months? Hope it doesn't feel neglected! ;)

I'm putting about 5k a year on each mine...so I'm not much better. And now, with a brand new CRV, all vacations, family trips etc. will be in it. Happy to put miles on the car that will have no repair costs for ten years!

I bought a new 2017 Corvette two years ago, so that's where some of the miles go.

chronometers 03-08-2020 02:46 PM

I'm putting 7-12k on mine per year. Great road car for cross country/ long distance trips. Always a pleasure to drive.

Owned 8 years in June 2021.
Put 1,400 miles on it in the past 12 months.
Has 79K on it now. 20K miles in 8 years.
Keep it in near tip top repair. Fan for HVAC squeaking, after replacing it for ticking 5 years ago.
Sad that I don't use it more.
I think this qualifies for a low/er mileage car.

Headliner dropped. Got a firm price of $350.00 from the trim shop I used for the '99 E300 headliner in 2013.

2006 E320 CDI - Bought June 2013. 59K miles.

July 2024 - Owned 11 years. 87K miles Update:

Love the car! Don't drive it very much. Spends a lot of time locked away out of the elements in it's garage.

I moved back to the DFW area a couple of years ago and need to get reacquainted with a couple of shops... What shop are you using for the headliner? My '98 E300 is getting a bit droopy.

The shop off Harry Hines in NW Dallas did my '99 E300 11 years ago too.

I'll look up the name and number of the indy shop tomorrow. Check back here in the afternoon Sunday.
