thinking of Bilsteins HD--will I regret?

I currently have Bilsteins Comfort shocks (190d 2.5td) all around installed in 2010 and are still good.

I am thinking of 'upgrading' to HD's.....Is this a good idea?

About my driving...
- I drive about 120 miles a day mostly highway. Not agressive in terms of lane changing but I like to take sharp corners fast.

I do the work myself so the labor is free.

What do you think? yea or nay?

ytmtnman put HDs on his wagon and said that it still rode well enough and also felt a little more "sporty". He started a thread on it -- I'll try finding it.

Poll: Bilstein HD or Comfort for 1983 300TD?

I am shopping for rear shocks for my w123 sedan and I recently did some browsing through threads here and on other forums.

I would say the consensus is about 80-90 percent that people like the HDs on their w123s and w126s.

A few folks said they felt the HDs were too firm for the overall character of the car (speaking of w123s).

Frankly most people are happy with whatever Bilsteins they install. Also very positive mentions of Sachs Touring, though far fewer reviews.

the change to HDs sure didn't bother me (w123).

I was steered against HD's when I replaced mine with Sports on my 190. I live in the hills and I've regretted not getting the HD's and will be paying the price for listening to those that don't like a firm ride when I soon replace almost new shocks.

I put a Sport suspension on a W212 BlueTec and I never regretted it.

If the roads are smooth where you operate the car, the HD would be my preference. However, if the roads suck where you drive, something more compliant will be desired by many.

We've got the HDs in our W210 car and our roads mostly suck - - the ride can be harsh. WTS, the HDs are great on the highway and car is remarkably stable.

I have HD's on the back and something called Touring on the front. I wanted HD's, but this site was out of them when my right front shock blew. Ride quality is firmer than stock but by no means bad. I'm always impressed at how quiet and smooth my car is when I get in it after riding my bike for a while. Cornering performance improved as well.

Thumbs up

HDs hands down.

The 560 has Comforts to match the SLS dampening more closely...at least that was my idea. Seems to have complimented each other well.

I like the HD. They aren't that stiff.
