1983 300SD ATE and Bendix caliper on the front axle, is this a problem?

It pulls to one side or the other under braking.

This could have something to do with the fact it has one ATE and one Bendix caliper with mismatched pads or the loose suspension component though.

Answer

It is strictly a SAFETY issue when you mix brands on the same axle.
The ATE - BENDIX piston bores are different diameter = unbalanced brake application = potential loss of control.

Been there, done that, wet and ice roads = even the best driver in the world may have extreme difficulty staying out of the ditch (or worse).

BENDIX or ATE caliper?

Brake:

Good to know, I asked on here when I first noticed and was told the opposite (that the pistons were the same size) so I didn't think I had to worry about it right away. I will make sure to get another caliper so they both match before I start using it again though.

1 brand is much less expensive than the other. No difference in function if working properly. Buy locally if you go with Cardone brand because I've bought them incorectly boxed and sticking. Shipping is more expensive than the part.

Change the rubber hoses and wear indicators unless you know they are new. It will save a redo.
