Finally raced

If you read my acceleration post you would know that my friends have been harrassing me about the acceleration on my 83 300SD. I finally got a chance to race the ringleader tonight. His father works out of the state so when his dad's away he drive an early 90s jaguar. his has about 80,000 miles while my 83 has about 250,000. It was about 1 oclock so there weren't many cars on the streets to make a long story short i beat him viciouclsy especially on the turns. I was taking turns near 60mph when he had to slow down to about 20. Well I beat him to my house and he was FURIOUS. anywayz just thought I'd share the triumph of another SD.

Good job! It's fun taking people on the highway and on the curves, I do it quite often

Take your ashtray insert out
Remove the two screws at the bottom
Pull the entire assembly out, disconnect the power and light bulb that will be in there
Remove the little coin tray in between the ash tray and the bezel
Slide the bezel foward, and it should come out

I knew my mechanic was wrong. When he was trying to check the switch out he started to jusst pull out the wood around the console. i had to tell him to be careful.
