Drivers window

I just got my new switch from fastlane and installed it but there is still no response. I don't hear anything at all when I press down the switch. What else should I check? I also just got my service manual today. It's not straightfoward for finding solutions to problems. can anyone provide any navigation tips for it?

Have you tried opening the door so that the dome light is on and then pushing the window switch? If the light dims, current is getting to the motor, so problem might be in the motor. If it doesn't dim, your problem might be "en route" to the motor.

Sorry I can't assist more.

If I remember correctly, you have just pulled the center panel and disconnected all of the switches - correct?

You need to have all the window switches installed before any one switch will work. They are paired lf/rr and rf/lr for fuses also. Check the fuses, plug in all the window switches and report back with the results.

Yeah I did this yesterday and again today once I got the new switch in. I reconnected everything today checked all fuses etc. Everything looked good. when I press the switch the light does dim so I guess that means current is getting to the motor. What is your diagnosis?

Well, I'm not your best source of info but I'd think that you have a bad motor. It may be possible that the window's internal mechanism (called a regulator) is somehow jammed. I suppose it is also possible that not enough current is getting to the motor but I doubt that is the problem.

Looks like you are going to have to take the panel off the door and check it out. There are lots of posts on that process. Probably can use a meter to test the current at motor. I'm not sure if these motors can be re-built by an electric shop (as can alternators and starters) but they can be purchased from FastLand I believe.

Hopefully, someone else will chime in so that you can be sure you have the best advice possible. Trouble shooting these problems can be a pain in the butt, especially when you go down the wrong path!

Good luck,

Nic

Hey! I just went through a similar ordeal. Only my window would make noise, just not a good one. It was a grinding popping sound. It turned out my regulator was cracked in half. I got a used was from the infamous Donkey (yup the deal went well) for $30. He included an extra motor with the regulator, so I have an extra one if you need it. I could part with it for $15.

If it turns out to be the motor, its pretty easy to replace. You don't even have to remove the regulator. Just unscrew the two small screws from the motor, and pull it out. Its all very easy once you take a look at it. Email me if you need more help or want the motor.

Good luck!

It needed some body work so I just took it to the shop. I'm gonna get ut back tommorow so we'll see what the problem was.
