Tow cable.

Not sure what gloves mach4 meant and what gloves Adriel doesn't like but I carry a pair of heavy gloves.

Idea for a follow-up topic - what does Charlie carry to the pick-n-pull besides the forum wish list?

I am pretty sure that Charlie removes all his parts from the yard with only his bare hands. Using tools takes away any real challenge.

Charlie on his way to the P-n-P. Don't get in the way...

Charlie wanted the blower motor. Car got in the way. At least he piled it all up somewhat neatly in the end.

Charlie also tightens your oil drain plugs and valves.

I can understand multiple pages of lists of things needed on a road trip if we were driving ,oh say,, Alfa Romeos or Fiats, but we are talking about MB's,, Diesel MB's at that, Mostly from the 70's and 80's. We're talking the Zenith of Zeniths in build quality and durability.
but I guess if this conversation were about other car brands that had as many miles on them as our old Diesels, the mention of "Road Trips" would be a thing of the past anyway and this conversation wouldnt have even happened.

Yes Yes I know,, there are other cars out there that have racked up some high miles even a cool Mil.
But I bet I wouldnt be far off if I said diesel Mercs make up 50% if not more of all the cars world wide that have ever hit the million mark. big rigs not included

One thing the OP hasn't mentioned is, where and how long is the trip? With all the suggestions it seems like he's ready to go to South America.

I think, once this thread has a REALISTIC complete list of winter and summer out of town necessities I'll edit down the thread, and put it in the sticky list.

Panty hose? I have to ask: What have you used panty hose for in the past? Did you happen to have one or a pair in the car with you? Were they on a lady?

10 --- What's in your wallet? wait.....maybe that's a topic for a new thread in the OD forum.

I've just taken to wearing pantyhose on long trips. Also, I skip a shirt and just wrap my whole upper body in duct tape.

And a spare GP relay.

... seriously? ya mean, you've never been REALLY short on cash, and just needed something to cover your face while making a ... "withdrawal"?

seriously though, my father taught me to carry at least a chunk of pantyhose in the trunk. many uses... scrubber, filter, makeshift belt/rope etc...

It looks like a long list, but most of the items are on the smaller end. This should easily fit in the two wells behind the rear wheels and in the spare compartment along with the spare. I'll try to get something like this together to take a picture so that you guys can see that it's not as intimidating as it at least looks to me .

Also, since I drive multiple cars, I generally keep most of the stuff on this list in a bag that I throw in the car whenever I drive anywhere.

Hmm. How do you make sure the jack doesn't shift on the metal plate?
