from slow to whoa! And the little things I learned...
I just got done with my yearly maintenance on the ol girl before the winter really hits. Did a valve adjustment, glow plugs, fluids, and filters. I finally tried to tighten up all of my turbo/throttle linkage along with the bowden cable (complete with broken adjuster
![]() Reason for the adjustment is because after putting the valve cover/linkage back together, my shifts were way too high. Looking at the linkage, it looked like I wasn't getting full movement. Tinkered with it a bit, trying one piece at a time to see where it was getting bound up. Seems like I found the right combo. I never really thought it was that slow before, but the difference is night and day. made drawings with measurements for the future. Dare to say it could possibly be considered "somewhat fast" now. ![]() And I also figured out a couple of things for myself that seem like common sense now. ....when doing valves, don't release the locknut so much, as it just makes it that more difficult to tighten up after making the adjustment; which shouldn't be that far off if done yearly. ....getting that valve cover off.....I like to take off the oil cap, and grab it from there, and the turbo linkage bracket on top... ....two sets of wrenches for the valves. One short, one long handled. ...I love this car. It needs so much cosmetically, but it runs so nice.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by lovinthedeez; 12-03-2013 at 05:04 AM.
