Handful of little problems 240D
I just bought a 4-speed 240 for $1200, 156,000 miles and it's got a few little problems.
The one I'm most concerned about is what sounds like an exhaust leak coming from the side of the engine without the ports. It might be just how these cars are supposed to sound, but I'm not sure. It's got plenty of power, and the sound seems to get less noticeable after it warms up. I've got what sounds like a vacuum leak whistle at about 2500-3000rpm, any common fail points I should check out? In what I think may be related to the last post, at idle, it rattles the whole car a little, but smooths out if it give it the slights amount of gas. Then when the turn it off, it'll keep running for a second and then feel kinda rough shutting down. Also, my dash lights don't work, and I've searched for this rheostat, but could not find it I love the car so far, it drives like my old Jag, but I don't have to deal with 13mpg.
